Fast food's eco-tude

Columbia students and South Loop residents will soon have an eco-friendly, hearty new option for dining out.
Epic Burger, a fast food joint, is scheduled to open in early May at 525 S. State St. in the same building as the University Center. Owner David Friedman said the restaurant will be “fast casual,” serving all-natural burgers, sandwiches, fries and shakes among other items, made from locally-grown ingredients.
The 80-seat restaurant will have beef and turkey burgers as well as chicken sandwiches, all made from free-range, antibiotic-free ingredients.
“I don’t like consuming products that have growth hormones,” Friedman said. “I personally don’t eat that way so I wouldn’t want to sell products that I wouldn’t eat.” link to article
